CYA in a dissolved form

I bought the HTH Stabilizer that is kind of a crystallized form and added it to the skimmer - all 4 lbs.
Will it take a week to see this on my test kit or is that only for "solid" forms of cya?

yup...at least 5 days...that's powdered cya...solid forms are usually not pure cya, rather sources of chlorine that are stabilized and contain CYA...you got the right stuff...only liquid cya shows up rather quickly

After 24 hours you can treat the pool as if it is all dissolved, just wait a week before testing the CYA level again.

You don't have a signature yet - you should add your equipment and pool specs. Go to User Control Panel, then Profile, then Edit Signature.

If you have a sand filter, don't backwash for a week. Any other type of filter, don't clean it. You'll lose CYA if you do so now, and make sure the filter is running for a full 48 hours after adding the CYA.
