Plumbing Returns Opinions Requested

The PB says he normally plumbs the two returns (plus an eyeball on the steps) together, one return on opposite corners of the ends. I think I would rather have individual lines for each return with ball valves for each. I also want them to add a third return low on the sidewall to aim down into the 8' hopper. They also normally run 1.5 inch lines and I'm having them use 2" instead.

What do you think is the best option?

There are many different ways of plumbing things, and for the most part all of them work. Two returns sharing a 2" pipe would be fine. Running a 1.5" line for each return is also fine. Running a 2" line for each return won't hurt but is probably more than you really need.
