cracked/split liner

OK, Now, Looks like we have a couple of cracks or splits in our liner on the steps. Actually the liner has wrinkles in it on the steps and that is where the split/cracks are. We had thought water loss was due to evaporation but it began getting a bit excessive even in this heat!
Are there any products to seal these up without draining?
I realize a patch would be best but if we can make do till later that would be great.
And How difficult is it to patch a pool liner?
Any input will be greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance.

I'm assuming you have vinyl covered steps, (how about a picture just to make sure). Pretty much all adhesives designed for pool patching work under water. boxer glue works well with vinyl patches and anderson (leaktools.com) has a flexible sealer for small holes and cracks. Patching isn't hard just press out the bubbles and smooth out best you can.
