Pump Run Time?

I followed the instructions on the "Pool School" board to figure out my pump run time, but it seems relatively low from what i have been told by from my pool installer and the pool store, so any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 20,000 gal pool
My filter pumps 96 gpm

20,000 / 96 = 208 min

208 min / 60 = 3.5 hours.

Is that correct, or am i totally doing the figuring it wrong ?

How do you know your pump flow rate is 96 GPM? If you are using the number on filter label, that is a recommended maximum, not necessarily what your pump will produce. That depends on the size pump you have and the head loss in the plumbing.

What is your pump model and filter pressure reading?

Like i said, i was probably way off.

My pump is a Hayward Super Pump
Model is C48L2N134B1
1 1/2 hp motor

Pressure reading was at about 12-15 last night.

Flow rate is probably some where between 70-80 GPM for a turnover of 4.2-4.8 hours.
