any ideas on which is the best sw generator for a 45,000 gal pool ?

That rather depends on what you mean by "best".

My personal favorite is the AutoPilot Digital. With the SC-60 cell it works with pools up to 50,000 gallons. The AutoPilot unit is more expensive than some of the others, but has several nice features that set it apart.
