Plaster Question

I just drained 1/2 of the water from my pool and noticed several areas of plaster missing, showing the concrete. How does one tell when it is time to replaster?

Also, when is the best time to have it done? My kids have another 2 months before school starts so I was thinking of doing it in the Fall.

How long does a plaster job take and how long before we can swim in it?

Thanks to everyone for your replies as I am new to this.

If there are sections of plaster missing so you can see the concrete then it is time to re-plaster.

You can have the work done any time, but you can often get good deals in the late fall, when the pool services are less busy. It should only take them a couple of days to re-plaster. It could be done in one day, but most likely they will take two or three. However, you are usually told to not swim for 30 days after plastering due to dramatic chemical changes while the plaster is first curing.
