I got this idea from a post on the poolforum and a product google found.
I saw a post about rubbing black algae spots 3" trichlor pucks. I also saw a product for attaching one to the end of your pool pole. The product was about $28 plus shipping. I went to the hardware store and bought $3.18 worth of pvc plumbing parts and spent a few minutes with a saw and drill.
