New Pool Owner :)

Hi all

I'm a new pool owner and am ready to tackle as many pool issues as possible on my own. This is week one of the new pool and I'm on my own....not to savvy with pool chemical knowledge.

I am about to order testing kits and want to make sure what I order is all I'll need.

Looking at the following:
TF-100 Test kit or the combo of TAYLOR TECHNOLOGIES INC K-1766 DROP TEST CHLORIDE SALT WATER and TAYLOR TECHNOLOGIES INC K-2006 TEST KIT COMP CHLORINE FAS-DPD

Either choice is equal in price....

Also....some one tell me how to start off on the right foot! What are the best chemicals to have on hand at all times?

Any other first time pool owner tid-bits would be great!!!

I have a 16 x 36 gunite saltwater pool. Depth is 3.5-8.5

Welcome to TFP!

The TF-100 is a better value because it gives you more of the tests you need more often. More here, Pool School - Test Kits Compared

Here is some good info on saltwater balance, Pool School - Water Balance for SWGs

The only thing going you should need regularly is muriatic acid to lower PH, keep it at 7.8 or a little less. And maybe some bleach to raise FC occasionally.
