18k gal, 60 day old, pebble aggregate pool with a SWG is drinking nearly a quart of acid every other day to keep it at a pH of 7.6 But it appears to be much more pH stable at 7.8 requiring just a splash of acid every few days to maintain. So, my question is... Should I alter somthing about my current chemistry to get it more stable at 7.6 or just target 7.8 and be done with it?

Target 7.8.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP, although it's a little bit more stable since I added borates.

I am tempted to do as you suggest, but my area has relatively hard fill water so I also fight rising CH.

Is 7.8 safe to use with CH around 300-500?
