Warming the water

Does running the pump and filter help with warming up the water faster? Or no effect?

My pool has been stuck on 82 for about 2 weeks, with mostly clear sunny days. We did have a temperature dip early one morning to about 49. That's cold, this is Florida.

My pump runs at night, 11pm until 5am right now, mostly because that's when my electricity rates are lowest.

I think the most it might do is circulate the top few inches of warmer water into the rest of the volume----insignificant. A solar cover will help you maintain any temperature you may gain on sunny days or minimize overnight losses.

Circulating the water at night helps cool the water down. Running the pump during the day won't heat it any faster. Easiest thing you can do is put a solar cover on the pool.
