Trichlor and CYA

if I used a few pounds of Trichlor, to add chlorine and bring up CYA, but it was eaten up very quickly by bacteria or something, would it still bring up the CYA a bit, or would I loose that also......

Trichlor will raise the CYA level, even if the chlorine it provides gets used up.
