I have a gunite pool that has some spots that aren't so pretty and show wear. A long time ago I had a pool guy smooth it out with some type of cement that lasted a pool season. He did this underwater and moved quickly. Does anyone have any idea what used?

Perhaps it was pool putty? I've used it to seal up around returns that were leaking through the shell. It held up for 3 seasons before we could re-plaster.
It's fairly easy to work with. Lots of videos on youtube on how to apply it.
