Quad de clean and recharge did I do it right?

I took out all filters and hosed them clean,
i then added 8lbs of de cartridge powder as a slurry into skimmer
the product I used is listed in link below

the reason I ask is because it's a different color (white) then what came with the filter(brown)
does that matter?

I've never seen brown with a pool only white. Diatomaceous Earth: The Difference Between Brown and White DE

I've never seen brown DE, except what was stuck to the grids when I cleaned them, and that wasn't DE. That was all the fine dust that got filtered out.

The stuff you bought is perfect. Word to the wise: keep that bag dry. Maybe set it in a trash bag or a plastic tote bin. You've got probably a two or three year supply there and if the bag rots, you'll have a huge mess.
