New liner installed, water leak

Had pool installers out to replace my 18 round agp. Took about 12 hours to fill, found in a 24 hour period, lost about 5" of water. Weather has been overcast mostly (Chicago area) so evap wouldn't cause this much loss.

Found the skimmer gasket seemed messed up in the front but pool installer says its fine and it's impossible to have a leak in the front of skimmer and not see any water running down side of pool.

Is this true? Couldn't water go between pool liner and front of wall?

The liner would be squishy and bubbled if you have a leak between the liner and wall. You'd also see the sand washed away in that area.

Thanks all! Turned out to be a seam that separated . Pool installer replacing for free including labor, just have to pay to fill it again.
