Siphoning water the winter cover is draining my pool!! What do I do?

I started siphoning the water off of my winter cover last night. My pool is now half empty and there is still tons of water on top of the cover.

What do I do? I can't seem to get the water just off the top of the cover. So it is impossible to get the tarp off as is. I'm stumped?

Please help me. . . .

Just clear out any leaves, pull the cover and clear up the water once you fill and start treating it. Maybe you have a hole in the cover?

I think this might be the only way. Should I fill my pool back up?

if the cover rises with the water level, it will be easier to get cover off. if it sinks, it may be harder

Can I leave my pool half empty for a week? Or will it cave in?
