Also, do you have anything that requires high flow rate, spa, waterfall, etc?

If not, a 3/4 HP high efficiency pump should be more than enough. A 3/4 HP Whisperflo, will deliver about 70 GPM on an average pool plumbing system. That is about a 6 hour turnover which would allow for 4 turnovers a day. You might even consider a two speed and run on low most of the time to save some money.

...yup 3/4n - 1hp hp is enough...you want your filter to be a little oversized if anything...sorry to break the bad news but with a 2hp you are probably just wasting money on electricity..unless you have a very long distance from you filter to the pool?

The s210, is probably a little undersized for a 24k gallon pool

Pool stores are notorious for pushing for bigger is better...just a marketing ploy, in reality even though the pump is capable of high flow rate...the piping and filter are not...again unless you have a long plumbing run, using 2"dia piping and an oversized filter

No. its not a 2 speed. This is our second season with the pool and this may sound a little crazy but last year we ran the pump virtually 24/7 (yes I know didn't need to run that much, now we don't) but we didn't have this holy cow sticker shock of an electric bill through the summer. We are seeing the affects of running the pump all of the time though (bearing is making a little noise). Now we run about 5hrs a day. Our electric bill just wasn't anything to make you start to run around the house trying to find something to turn off.
