Brand new pool 24 round pool

I turned on my filter today put threw the 5 gallons of powder and the Guage will not move at all. What does this mean? I have Hayward ec50ac

Do you have water flow? If so, likely it just means that your gauge is bad and needs replaced.

We also do not recommend just randomly throwing powder into the pool ... why 5 bags and not 3 or 10?

We highly recommend you invest in one of the recommended test kits if you want to take control of your pool and likely learn a better and cheaper method of maintenance.
