long term adding muriatic acid?

No. It is hydrochloric acid, so it only adds hydrogen and chlorine to your water, so no accumulation of undesirable chemicals.

Are there any known problems with long term use?

The potential problems are more associated with storage & application outside the pool. A leaky bottle or some splashed on your skin isn't fun...it's very strong acid. I am always amazed when I take the lid off and it starts "smoking" from the moisture in the air.
