Hi,

Can someone recommend a good pool vac to use with my skimmer? I have a pole & 40' 1.5 hose, just need something to clean with. I have a polaris 280 which runs around but I need something for trouble areas.

Thanks,
Rich

I use one that looks like this that I bought at Lowes.

I have two skimmers - do i need a 'blank' cover to close off one of the skimmers (I have two)?
If they're teed with no individual valves, yes. It's much easier to pull water through the skimmer than through a lengthy hose. It doesn't have to be fancy. A rubber ball, a rock, whatever. Just be sure it won't break and/or get sucked down. You can develop a lot of suction!

So I think this is how my setup works (not entirely sure):

So if I turn the spa skimmer off, the deep skimmer off, then use a ball in the far skimmer, the skimmer that has the suction for the vacuum should work very well?

Do I need to worry about it vacuuming my skin off if I happen touch that area by accident?

More likely is that the head will get stuck on the pool floor. If that happens, just crack the spa or main drain a little so you have enough suction to vacuum without getting stuck constantly.
