Dirty Pool Bottom

After 6 weeks of filtering only once a week just to clorinate, since my filter kept spewing DE back into the pool, I finally have that issue resolved.

Now I have "spots" on the bottom of the pool. We went through pollen season during this time. I'm guessing that pollen has settled in the pool and along with the DE has adhered to the gunnite. I notice when I gently brush these spots a small cloud of green is created. Is there a recommended method for clearing up these spots? Will I harm the gunnite if I keep using the wire brush?

That green poof is algae and you need to follow this process to kill it, SLAM Process

If your plaster is more than a year old then you can use the stainless steel brush, if not then switch to poly.

thanks....I'll SLAM it...the pool is 25 years old....we "inherited" it when we bought the house....shortly thereafter I joined TFP....

I will switch to poly also...
