Is an oversized liner ok or not?

I am going to be ordering a replacement liner for my pool in the next day or so. My pool is 18' by 38 1/2', with a deep end, so I will need an overlap expandable liner. The cheapest expandable patterned liners I can find are for 21' by 41'. Since it's an overlap expandable liner, is it ok to get a larger liner and just cut off the excess? I seem to recall the original liner I got was like that. Or would a 18' by 39' fit significantly enough better to be worth paying extra for?

Thanks for any advice/help.

You can not use a larger liner. You will have folds of extra material along the walls and floor.
