Coming back from a miserable fail at a first pool closing.

So I closed our pool for the first time last year and failed miserably. Between new born and work I wasn't able to give any attention to it in person until last week. Took me about 7 days (would have been quicker I think if I could have stayed with it during the process) but she came back pretty good.

    What I came home to

    36 hrs later

    Few days later

    As of today

Seeing how I didn't install the pool until late in the season last year I'm encountering some new to me nuances, i.e. Magnolia blooms clogging up my sand filter. Not really clogging it but significant flow reduction. So I've been having to rinse and back wash a lot more often to keep the flow rate up. Anybody have any suggestions on how to keep the small/fine blooms like that from making their way past all the strainers?

Pretty sure above ground pool skimmer baskets can use a skimmer basket sleeve/filter also? Have you tried that? AKA....skimmer sock.....just a thought

Good call on a skimmer sock. I'll look into one of those.

    Tks

Yep, skimmer socks or similar would be the ticket.

Nice work SuperB! That's how you take a pool by the horns and Slam it to the ground!! Brilliant.

    Thanks.

Might talk the wife out of some hose and try that first before buying some socks. Hoping the tree will cut me a break here soon.
