Bought house end of last summer. Pool wasn't opened last year. Last time I'm guessing it was used was summer 15. Took off cover to find this. I have a test kit on order and look forward to learning more on this site. Once kit is here I will be looking for help. Not sure where to even start. will update signature soon, once I figure out what I even have.

The start is easy. Read Pool School from the button at the top of the page.
Use pool leaf rake to get out as much from bottom that you can.
Take a look at this Pool School - Defeating Algae
Read that article a number of times. Especially the SLAM part.
Ask lots of questions as you go along through the reading and the process.
