I'm replacing my filter with a side mount sand filter using a 7 position multiport valve. My current system had a DE filter with a backwash tank and between the filter and tank there is a check valve. I have since removed the tank and backwash to the sewer system but since I'm replacing these things I was wondering if I really need the check valve since the multiport valve is above the piping outlet. I hope that is clear.
