Algae Testing

Has anyone come up with a good idea to try and suck up some possible algae to test, with out getting in the water? Water too cold, and stairs are still out until pool opens...Trying to think of a good sucking apparatus you can lean over that will reach spots...

The overnight chlorine loss test tells you if you have algae or other organic crud. Doesn't matter what it is it must go and chlorine SLAM is the answer

A piece of pvc you can suck some up with??? ewwwww but................

I do agree with madwil though.........If you even think it is algae do the OCLT as seen here:

BUT I have seen pools with algae pass the test so.......maybe you do need to suck up some yuck!!

You don't even have to suck on the pipe.... .Just put the pipe in while your thumb is covering the side by your hand. Then let your thumb up and the water will displace the air in the tube and then you carry it out to your container by putting your thumb over the water filled tube again as you lift it out of the pool.

Just like playing with a soda straw at the drive in theater......remember those days, Kim? I sure do...... <sigh>
