Bromine tablets are slow dissolving. If you have not added a bromide bank to your water it can literally take weeks before there are enough bromide ions in the water and you are actually just sanitizing with the chlorine in the tabs. The tabs are good for maintaining a bromine level that has already been 'created' by adding sodium bromide and then oxidizing.
