Added Clorox, no increase -- huh?

So I added my first batch of Clorox Bleach (regular/original) last night -- about 32 oz.

FC was 4.5 steady for the last couple of days before adding bleach.

This morning it's still 4.5.

Still struggling with getting a reliable CYA reading, but I'm pretty sure it's between 55 and 60 (this morning I read 55, yesterday it looked like 60).

PH is 7.2.

Poolcalc says FC should have gone up to 5.4

Pool is being maintained at 85 degrees, no cover last night.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chlorine is a consumable item in your pool. For various reasons, the FC level will be continuously dropping......sometimes faster and sometimes slower.

As you get used to the pool, you will be able to dose carefully and get fairly consistent results.

Bottom line is don't worry if you can't account for a .9ppm change. The important thing is to keep your FC at a reasonably consistent level (based on your CYA) throughout the season.

Well, the steady 4.5 FC for your CYA of 60 is below the recommended minimum FC.

See the Chlorine/CYA Chart in my sig. Your target FC is 7. I would aim for a nightly/evening dose of maybe 8 or 9.

Then see where you are the next evening and adjust.

How does your water look?
