Timer connection

Purchased an Intermatic mechnical timer P104) to operate my pump and salt generator which are wired together to the same circuit breaker. Electrician has wires for both running into one junction box and then one wire running from there to the breaker panel. Need some help or direction in getting this thing connected. I am fairly experienced electrically but unsure how to properly connect this up. Any help would be of great service. Is this timer a good idea or are there better or simpler units out there. Tired of running out to the pool shed in order to turn everything on and off.

The Intermatic timers are a very good inexpensive choice.

What you normally do is run power from the breaker to the timer, and then connect both the pump and the SWG to the output of the timer. That way the SWG is only on when the pump is on.

You will probably need to connect a short piece of conduit between the existing junction box you mentioned and the timer, then separate the wires from the breaker from the other wires and connect them to short wires up to the timer input, and then run wires from the timer output back to the junction box and connect them to the pump and SWG wires.
