Inlet Returns

I have a 18x36 vinyl liner pool with one main drain one skimmer and 3 returns. When I have the valve turned on to the slide I dont get much water coming down the slide, If I put my finger over one of the returns water flies down the slide. If I cap a return off and just have two will that be ok?

That would work, but there must be something going on with the valve - any chance of a pic of the slide off valving and then one of it with the slide on?
