Hurricane surge put sea water in fresh water pool, drain or treat?

I live in Saint Augustine near the ICW. My pool is brown and haze sea water.
My neighbor said he was draining his but it had to be done
At a certain time to avoid damage.

Any idea what I should do?

If I drain it, should it be low or high tide?

Have you had the salt tested to see exactly what the level is?

That's the first thing I'd do. Once we know that, we can better advise what needs to be done.

I suspect a partial drain refill and then treat it.

Do you know what the water table is where you are? I suspect that it's pretty high, but don't know.

I agree with Bama, salt will be the only real issue from sea water. Everything else should be able to be taken care of with chlorine, vacuuming to waste, and filtering. Knowing your salt level will tell you how much you need to drain to bring it back down to something reasonable.

Given that you are located low enough to experience a storm surge I would be very careful with draining and not drain more than a couple feet at a time. A popped pool is a very dangerous and costly problem.
