I purchased a home with a pool in spring 2016. My CYA (260) and chlorine (10+) were probably due to the previous owner/pool services chlorinator settings. A local company provided a pool school before I found TFP. I have drained half the pool twice to reduce the CYA and turned off the chlorinator, using bleach exclusively instead. The water seems crystal clear.
My test results are pretty consistent with my neighborhood bi-weekly Leslies tests; I get my chlorine and acid there too since it's close and competitive with big-box stores.
