Pool Closing question number 2 & 3

Hi all!

I have read and read, and feel comfortable with the concept of blowing out the vents, and lowering the water level to just below the skimmer. But, I'm still a little baffled with the pool pump. Am I supposed to be doing something to that? And I keep reading about putting pool noodles or empty water bottles, or something?

You need to take the drain plug out of the pump, some have two plugs. The noodles or water bottles are to go in the skimmer, or use a gizmo.
