Fully automatic pool cover pump for rough winters?

I live in NH and the winters here can be brutal (although last year was nice).

I'm looking for a fully automatic pool cover pump that I can just plug in and leave out there, and it'll keep my cover nice and clear!

Any recommendations or ones people have had that have lasted a good long time?

You'll need something with an automatic float switch---usually an arm sticking out.

Nothing is going to keep the cover clear; snow happens.

I use the little giant pump. I use a black garden hose and keep as much hose off the cover and elevated as possible so the sun can thaw the water in the hose. No pump will work if the hose is clogged with ice.

No other pump I know of will work better during super freezes.

Which Little Giant are you using?

The Little Giant is not automatic, right? You just manually turn it on/off as needed?

It's so old I can no longer read the model number, but it looks like this: Little Giant APCP1700 Pool Cover Pump with 25' Cord, 1700 GPH, 115V

Still works a treat and I use it (or let it sit out in the sun on the deck), year 'round as I have an auto-cover.
