Will this be a problem in New England?

They don't seem to be draining. I'm worried about cracked cement when I open. This is the first time closing the pool myself.
 
There is usually a drain hole in the bottom. Sometimes filled with concrete during installation and often clogged with debris. Use a hose as suggested above.
 
How does that help? I've seen that mentioned before but won't it just freeze around it and do pretty much the same?

When the ice expands, it crushes the noodle rather than putting force on the anchor. The noodle also greatly reduces how much water is there to start with.
