what size and brand is the best for 24' above ground pool

Welcome to TFP!

I would steer clear of the Intex systems. They salt water cells are not very reliable and their cartridge systems are woefully undersized. Your pool volume is likely to be about 13000 gallons if it's a 4 foot deep pool. Purchase a SWG that is rated for 20,000 plus gallons. You'll be able to run the SWG at a lower output, likely extending its life span. Something that can produce in the neighborhood of 0.7 pounds of chlorine per day. This is a useful chart for comparing many different SWG systems and pricing.

As far as filters go... the larger the better is the best advice. You'll have to clean the cartridges less often. For your size pool, look at cartridge filters that have 100 sq. ft. of filtration area or greater. A 1/2 to 3/4 HP pump is likely sufficient as well.
