This is my first year closing our pool. I was trying to blow out the lines/plug the returns, but I'm having an issue. I tried to use one of the gizzmos that have the opening for a shop vac, but I can't get the gizmo to thread in to the skimmer. I can feel the threads on the inside of the skimmer return, but they seem to start about an inch down, and the part of above those thread isn't large enough to fit the end of the gizzmo through (I believe 1 1/2'') I tried to screw one of the "eyeballs" on the end of the gizzmo just to check the size of the lines and they're the same size.
I'm attaching a picture of the inside of the skimmer basket. Do I need to remove something here in order to get the gizzmo screwed in? Any help would be appreciated!!
