When I'm adjusting the ph to balance the water in the tub the alkalinity drops to below 50 before I can get the ph to stop drifting. I know that alkalinity is a ph booster how do I keep the alkalinity up around 50 while I still have to use ph down to get the ph to stop drifting.

How high does the PH get? With low TA, it should not get that high.
