New build in Atlanta GA

That is a LOT of work that has been done! It looks great so far!

You are at the point I share a set of links for new pools. It is a lot of info so take it slow.

Pool School - ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

I would also like to ask you about the test kit the PB may be providing. Can you please ask which one he has in mind? That way we can fill in any holes it might have.

Based on that, you will need to purchase a FAS/DPD chlorine kit, a calcium hardness kit and a CYA kit. I believe that all can be bought through tftestkits.net or you might be better served to get a TF-100 which includes the different tests you need.

The pool company is giving me the Pentair Rainbow 78HR. It has Cl, pH, acid demand, total alkalinity tests. Thanks.

That is a very basic kit. The CL test will only go to 5 ppm and will only test "total chlorine". The test we like can test MUCH higher and test for Free Chlorine (FC) AND Combined Chlorine (CC). Here is a little reading to help you learn what all of this means to you and your pool.

Went through pool school with the builder. They'll be back in 2 weeks to start the Salt. Until then, liquid chlorine.

Water turning blue, waterfalls and bubblers are working. Depending on the sun, the decking looks tan or grey.

Water's looking good.

And then DISASTER. A week later, it rained heavily for the first time. The landscape drainage plan failed.

Pool turns into a swamp.

Using TFP, I did a SLAM and it's almost back now. Landscaper is supposed to come back next week to fix the issues, but we're supposed to get more rain. So, I built a temporary berm out of unopened bags of mulch. I used 33 bags stacked two high and covered with plastic. Home Depot, 5 bags for $10. The water should now go either behind the pool or towards the front of the house. Any remaining water will go into the existing drain box.

You can see the 12 inch drainbox on the bottom left. This couldn't handle all the water and overflowed.

If it rains, it will be a good test to see if the permanent berm the landscaper is going to build will work.

Wow. Looks beautiful. But sorry about your drainage. Your slope is a monster. What is the plan to address? I wonder if you could do drains around the edge of the decking?

Also be sure your mulch you're using as a barrier isn't dyed. The last thing you want is dye running into your brand new pool.

The plan is to extend the berm so water goes behind the pool. The mulch is colored, but unopened. I also put another layer of plastic. I may wrap one more time to be sure there's no leaks.

Good luck with the water issues. I'm curious who is financially responsible for doing new landscape and drains to fix this?

Spring 2017 new build in PA ! //// Pool on a big hill //// IG SWG 800 sqft +100 sqft sun shelf + 50 sqft spa. //// All Jandy Pro series equipment (help me choose which models !) //// SGM River Rok or Diamond Brite (help me choose!) //// Stamped Concrete, Pavers, or Stone (help me choose ! )

We've had 2 hard rains since the new berm was completed. The drainage worked great both times. The water is being redirected around the back of the pool. Since the berm wasn't in the original plan, I worked it out with the landscaper and ended up paying just a couple of hundred for the dirt, sod, and labor. I think this was a fair deal for both of us.
