Help buying a new skimmer

I'm going to start with the skimmer. I want to put in a new one. Mine is north of 25 years.
I would like recommendations and also knowledge on which would fit.

do I basically just take some measurements and get something to the closest size?

Also a paver or travertine deck is being done. the skimmer is flush with the current deck now but the new deck will be about 1.25 to 1.5 inches higher. Is there a riser or something for the lid?

LOL in skimmer throat for model #.

I presume the pool is concrete, so walls can be cut & "mudded" accommodate a different skimmer..

Concrete skimmer replacement is very laborious & requires solid masonry skills to complete.. It may be worth writing a check for...

I've done brick, block, stucco and slabs. Just never messed with pools.

did you mean look in skimmer throat for model number? I didn't see one
