Dirt on bottom of pool

Good morning all, my pool sets in back yard surrounded on 3 sides with trees.
I get some dirt from wind, rain and so on. If I don't vacume pool within a couple of days
bright green (algae?) will appear on some of the dirt streaks. Water is crystal clear.
Vacume and all is good. Can I use an algaecide to stop this?

Green stuff sounds like algae. Can you describe it in more detail?

It's a bright green streak that sit's on top of the dirt that settles in the bottom of pool. No where else, but on the dirt. Thanks Bill

Skip the algaecide and do a proper SLAM on your pool.

I just brought my pool to SLAM level of FC 16 by pool math. Do I keep it there just long enough to pass the 3 rules, and wait to see what happens when new dirt that falls to the bottom? Thanks Bill

Once you pass all 3 criteria, keeping your FC in the recommended range will help tremendously in deterring algae. Dirt isn't algae..........(but can pick up a stray traveler or two). If it was, my pool would be solid green due to some road work behind my house--tons of dirt hauling going on. Back to vacuum!

I would personally go with a slam/shock level of 18. A CYA reading of 42 is more likely closer to 45 as the scale is logarithmic, not linear.
