Horrible chlorine smell

Had the beginnings of an algae bloom (ran out of chlorine for a day). Water never got cloudy always crystal clear, but had two small slimy spots which I scrubbed up. Sunday tested, slammed Sunday night, all day Monday. Monday nights Overnight test lost no FC, but this morning the smell of chlorine fills my back deck. I should be done slamming by my test results. Why the major chlorine smell? It hasn't smelled this bad ever. I added PH decreaser to bring the PH and TA back down.

Horrible "chlorine smell" is CC. CC is high because the chlorine is oxidizing some organic matter and because FC is too low to burn off the CC.

In order to determine if your FC level is adequate, you will need to determine your CYA. The higher your CYA, the higher your FC will need to be to sanitize your water.
