Friend's pool...does this look like 35,000 gallons?

Friend moved into their house in July, opened pool a few weeks ago.

Anyway, the previous owner said the pool is 35,000 gallons.

Below is a picture. Deep end is 9 feet. Does this look like 35,000 gallons?

Yes. Value of that answer based on the picture? Zero.

It could be 35, it could be 30. 35 is a large volume for a backyard pool. The way you figure it out is divide the pool into sections, determine the volume of each section add them up to get thew estimate. Then treat it if its that size. Adjust the size based on chemical usage.

I told her I'd assume it was 30,000 gallons, and use that for calculating intitally with the pool calculator.

That being said, I tested her water, and he CH was 110. This is a gunite pool, so based on recommended levels, she'd want to get that up to 250, right?..roughly 42 pounds of this?:

Could be. You could figure it out with bleach and pool math.

I.E. Measure FC, add 1 gallon (or any amount) fresh bleach, measure FC again 30-60 mins later, then take the difference and figure out what volume that corresponds to in pool math

When adding Calcium start with like 1/2 or 1/3 of what you think you need... ya can't get that stuff back out.

That's a commercial diving board. To meet diving specs, the pool has to be pretty big.

What is the smallest rectangle that the pool can fit in?

I agree with pinguy add calcium s l o w l y . First one half what you need then a bit more. Creep up and be a little bit on the low side.
