swimming while SLAMing

Yes, it is safe to swim when
FC is above minimum and up to shock level for your CYA, [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]
PH Is 7.2 to 7.8
Water is clear

We had a swim-n-slam last summer with FC 28ish and CYA 70 and nobody even noticed. FC at shock level for your CYA is less harsh than a pole with no CYA and FC of 1 ppm. CYA greatly buffers the chlorine harshness.

Thanks!

A related question for me here, (I got my CYA a little high), I was at Leslie's pool store and they told me that CYA "hangs out" in the top 6" of pool water. Therefore, flushing water to waste from the skimmer would be a quick way to lower my CYA level.
Would you concur?

That is total nonsense. Please avoid that store in the future for anything other than inflatable pool toys.

CYA is mixed throughout the entire body of water. It's only going to lower the CYA level proportionally to your water volume. See Pool Math at top of page. Visit Pool School.

You have on of the recommended test kits if you are slamming, correct?
