Holes In Winter Cover

I bought a new winter cover last year and while taking it off I noticed a few quarter size hole in it. Im hoping I can just patch the holes with some outdoor duct tape and get another year out of it. I live in the NE and get a lot of snow and ice on the cover. Any of you see a problem with this?

You can if you like...you may get some seepage of icky stuff, but its nothing that chlorine won't cure.
