Start pool with ionizer

Welcome to the TFP Forum! Lots of great people here ready to assist you! The first advice I can lend is to go the top of the page and spend a few minutes (or an hour) reading and re-reading Pool School. Then read "Test Kit Comparison" and decide which test kit you are going to buy ( I recommend the TF100XL with speed stir.) Order the kit tonight if you haven't already. Then you will have a better idea of what else to ask and what we mean when we answer!

Welcome to TFP!

Plus 1 to ordering a TF-100 from TFTestkits.net. it is the best value, Pool School - Test Kits Compared

We do not recommend using ionizers because they add metals to the water which will accumulate over time and stain the pool, water, hair, fingernails and dogs. Lots of folks here spend a lot of time and money trying to get metals out of their water.

Also, ionizers do not sanitize the water. Chlorine is required to keep the pool sanitized and safe. FC must be maintained above minimum for your cya, [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA], at all times to kill bacteria, viruses and pathogens to prevent person to person disease transmission.
