Rust stain

Hi all. Inground gunnite pool just over a year old. Small circular rust stain seen on side wall. Something under the gunnite rusting through? Already contacted pool company that built pool but want the truth here before they start the spin and the blame game. Is this a bad sign or a really bad sign?

Your sig says white plaster. That looks like blue pebble. It could be a contaminant in the pebble mixture. It happens occasionally, we had one. PB dug out the rock, that wasn't a rock, with a screwdriver and filled the hole with pool putty.

Thanks. Yes it's a gunnite mix. Not sure if the nomenclature they never said pebbles but it is a mixture to give the pool surface a slight blue hue. Hopefully that's all it is...thanks

That's obvious enough that it should have been visible prior to plaster. So if you saw nothing there prior to plaster it is very likely in the plaster.
