Vinyl lined pool stairs

Hi there. Just needing some help on my options for refinishing the stairs on my vinyl lined pool. The stairs are white fiberglass and they are looking pretty tired. Is there a product out there? Ideally i would like to drain it down so they are dry and fill it back up soon after. What kind of paint works on these?

I believe that it is better to use a gelcoat product on fiberglass, not paint.

Can anyone recommend a product or have any experience with refinishing fiberglass stairs I can't find much on a suitable kit out there. Also is it safe to drain the pool (just enough to expose the stairs) or will the liner shrink? I remember seeing something years ago about having to always leave at least a certain amount in the shallow end but I can't find it now

I refinished mine with a kit from poolstepspecialits , they shipped it from Canada. It is some sort of epoxy gel coat , a little pricey but did the job . I did it one year ago and so far so good .

It is best to leave a foot of water in the shallow end when draining a vinyl pool to prevent liner shift, shrink, etc.

I did mine when the liner was being replaced so the pool was empty .
