Will a robot cleaner be able to climb onto and clean my baja shelf and steps?

My Baja shelf is pretty large and is 18" deep. I am thinking rather than mess with the suction cleaner I may just go with a robot. What's the best one for under $1000.00?

It should in 18". My shelf is 12" and the robot will not go on top of it. Any neighbors have one you can try?

I consider the Maytronics (Dolphin) cleaners to be the best. Some have reported getting the S300i for right around $1000.

Nobody does, all suction cleaners. I may check out you tube to see.
