Do you have to leave your filter off when you put a solar cover on?

No, you can leave it on when filtering.
My neighbor's 27 ft pool - she cuts the solar cover in half to make the two sections more manageable. Mine, I have a 24, I roll it up like an eggroll. I grab part, pull towards me, and start a tight roll, it starts to make like a triangle with the end I'm holding. So I fold over with my right, and then my left, and then I roll a bit, pull more, folding while alternating sides. It ends up looking like a giant fat eggroll. Sits in the corner of the deck under the umbrella. Works for me. Gets kinda heavy when wet though, and my cheapy 6 mil tore today trying to remove it. Time for a new one... It always worked great with my heavy 12 mil cover, that one never tore. Just got to heavy for me.
I've seen saddles that sit on the side of the AGP (kinda Ugh) and reels, but those can be in the way, with an AGP.
