Timer recommendation

Intermatic T104 will turn on and off the pump.

Intermatic T106 will change speeds if you need that too.

I use an Intermatic GM40AV, to cycle my Pentair 1-1/2 HP, 2-speed pump on low speed. I occasionally use high speed by just switching at the pump. Great timer, but very tiny non-finger-friendly controls; I use a plastic pointer to move trippers and on/off/auto switch.

To automatically time operation at both speeds, both an on-off control and a speed-switch control are required. Wiring the T106 to change speeds requires rewiring the motor's power cord.

Note: the GM40AV is rated for 1HP, 16.0FLA at 120V; my pump nameplate says 16.6FLA, so I put the circuit on a 15A breaker to protect the timer just in case increasing filter-loss wants the pump to draw its full amperage.

I really like that the GM40AV has captive trippers.
